Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences maintains First position in Scopus Database with Cite Score of 4.1

KARACHI: Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences published by Professional Medical Publications has successfully maintained the No. 1 positon among biomedical journals published from Pakistan for the fourth consecutive year in Scopus Database with current Cite Score of 4.1 as per the ranking released last week related to the Year 2023. The number of total citations were five thousand seven hundred thirty-seven. Total number of documents published during the same period were one thousand four hundred and six hence as per the formula to calculate ranking, it showed a considerable improvement from the last year. It increased from 3.1 to the current Cite Score of 4.1.

Credit for this accomplishment goes to the editorial team and the reviewers of the journals. Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences, it may be mentioned here also enjoys the highest Impact Factor for the last many years among the biomedical journals published from Pakistan with its current Impact Factor of 2.2. The journal has a reviewer’s database of over six hundred specialists in different disciplines of medicine and over 70% of them are from overseas. The journal has a very strong initial screening, internal review system and manuscripts are sent for external review only once most of the deficiencies have been rectified. The journal practices Open Peer Review System though it does provide an option to reviewers who do not wish to disclose their identity. Scopus, maintained by Elsevier publishing group started this preview from the Year 2000.
