Prof. Kh. Sadiq Husain passes away at the age of over 97 Years

LAHORE: Prof. Khwaja Sadiq Husain an eminent physician of the country who retired as Principal of King Edward Medical College and also had the privilege of serving as President of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan passed away on June 9th 2024 at the age of ninety eight years. He leaves behind thousands of students, colleagues besides family members to mourn his death. May Allah Pak rest his soul in Jannah. Aameen.

His Nimaze Jinaza was offered on June 10th at his residence in Lahore Cantt which was attended by numerous Vice Chancellors of Medical Universities, Principals and Deans of Medical & Dental Colleges, retired and present faculty members which included many of his students. President of CPSP Prof. Shoaib Shafi was also present.

According to Prof. Muhammad Akbar Chaudhry the towering personality and glittering role model for the healthcare professionals in Pakistan, Prof. Kh. Sadiq Husain was a beloved teacher who also enjoyed tremendous respect in the society. His son Nasim Khawja lead the funeral prayer. Before the prayers he gave an impressive reminder to all those present supplemented with verses of the Holy Quran. He quoted verses about following reminders:

  • Every human being is destined to die one day (every soul will taste death).
  • The time spent in this life is a test for everyone, for which we are answerable on the day of judgment.
  • The time spent in this Dunya is very limited. When Allah will ask human being about how much time he spent in his worldly life, he will say “a day or part of a day”. (Surah: Mominoon)
  • The people living this life in disregard to the divine guidance will be in hell eternally.
  • The people living life in God fearing way and following the divine guidance will be rewarded with Paradise. (Surah: Al-Bayyenah)
  • Khawja sahib’s son offered heart touching supplications in the end.
    May The Almighty SWT bless our beloved teacher with Jannat ul Firdaus, Aameen!

  1. Thank you for writing an obituary of Prof Khawaja Sadiq Hussain. He was indisputably the most respected elder in the medical fraternity. I met him for the first time when I had ADC duty with him in 1985 conference of medical college principals. He gifted me his signed book (checklist for clinical examination). Eversince then whenever I met him he would recall that conference and its arrangements. May Allah give him the best place in jannah.
