ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Association of Medical Editors in collaboration with Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine organized a workshop on the power of medical journalism at MCH auditorium syndicate hall of PIMS on Thursday 25th April 2024.

It was organized by Prof Dr S H Waqar and Dr. Valeed Mansour was the moderatoror.
The first session was on Medical Writing and Publications, wherein Prof Dr. S H Waqar President of PAME made a presentation. He briefed the participants about the workshop, its objectives and the format. He discussed in detail the basic principles of scientific writing and different aspects of publications.
Dr. Arsalan Manzoor spoke on scientific paper writing. He described the basic format of the original article and it’s essential components. The third session was online wherein the speaker was Prof Akhtar Shireen He spoke on the Right Journal for the Right Paper. He highlighted the various databases, indexations and accreditation of the journals. He also informed about the predatory journals..

The last session was conducted by Major General (R) Prof Mohammad Aslam on the A-Z of Eessentials of Medical Journalism. He explained all the important issues faced by the medical journalism and gave expected solutions and way forward.
Prof. Eice Mohammad, an eminent Professor of Medicine was the chairperson of the workshop. Prof Jawed Akram, President of PSIM, graced the occasion with his presence and also presented shields and certificates to the facilitators and the participants. Other dignitaries who attended the event were Prof Tanvir Khaliq former VC SZABMU, Prof Rana Imran ED PIMS and Prof Shafaat Khatoon Head General Medicine Unit II PIMS.
Earlier the proceedings started with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by introduction of the facilitators and participants. (PR)
