SIMS organize Farewell Reception for Prof. Tayyaba Waseem

LAHORE: Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) organized a farewell reception for Prof. Tayyaba Waseem an eminent Obstetrician & Gynecologist who was recently transferred from SIMS and appointed Principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College/Jinnah Hospital. She had resumed her new responsibilities few weeks ago.

Prof. Tayyaba Waseem who was transferred from SIMS to Allama Iqbal Medical College/Jinnah Hospital was given a farewell reception by SIMS recently. Photograph taken on the occasion shows she being presented a Memento on behalf of the SIMS faculty.

Speaking on the occasion various faculty members paid rich tributes to recognize her contributions to medical education, healthcare and the Discipline of Obstetrics & Gyna ecology in particular. She served at SIMS for eighteen years. She took keen interest and upgraded the department of Obstetrics & gynecology at SIMS, acquired latest electromedical equipment and instruments for the department besides establishing an Intensive Care Unit.

She was also appointed Editor of ESCULAPIO the official Journal of Services Institute of Medical Sciences. The journal was being published for the last many years but failed to make any impression. With the help of her team, she worked hard to organize workshops for training of the editorial staff, even arranged training sessions inviting guest speakers from other institutions, eminent medical editors and thus was successful to get the journal recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. Her new assignment is a challenging job at a time when the patients’ expectations have increased and administration has to walk on tight rope providing diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients, ensuring law and order in the institutions. However, it is also a happy moment as regards Women Empowerment as women usually face lot of problems in academic career.
