LAHORE: Shalamar Medical and Dental College Lahore celebrated a momentous occasion on Monday, January 27, 2025, with the launch of the Journal of Shalamar Medical and Dental College (JSHMDC). This prestigious open-access, peer-reviewed journal is officially recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). It is covered by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, and Chairman of the PMDC Journal Committee, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Professor Dr. Sidra Saleem, representing the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. The event attracted a diverse audience, including editors of various journals, researchers, faculty members, students, and distinguished guests, all eager to witness this significant milestone.
Professor Zahid Bashir, the Principal of Shalamar Medical and Dental College, COO Dr. Ayesha Nauman, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Shahid Hussain welcomed the attendees. Prof. Dr. Adeela Shahid, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, passionately shared the vision and journey of the Journal of Shalamar Medical and Dental College (JSHMDC). She highlighted how, under the dynamic leadership of the Principal and with the unwavering support of a dedicated editorial board, the journal is set to make a mark on the international stage with future indexing.
