LAHORE: Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine hosted a reception in honour of Mr. Khalid Mahmood Chief Executive of Getz Pharma here on October 5th 2025 at a local hotel. It was well attended by a select group of members and Executive of PSIM besides Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal President of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Javed Akram former founder President of PSIM thanked Mr. Khalid Mahmood for Getz unlimited support for funding during the Covid research study as well as for the academic activities of PSIM.
Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal in his speech thanked PSIM and also commended the contributions of Mr. Khalid Mahmood and Getz Pharma. Prof. Eice Muhammad urged the participants to serve the ailing humanity with care and uphold professional ethics, promote ethical practices.
Mr. Khalid Mahmood in his address highlighted the importance of value system and remarked that humility is the quality of leadership. He commended the contributions of healthcare professionals looking after the patients during the Covid pandemic at great personal risk. We helped produce a film Salute to our Heros. He also referred to Palestinian doctors living in UK who come to serve the ailing humanity during the current Gaza conflict. We are trying to make available quality drugs at affordable prices for the people of Pakistan.
Continuing Mr. Khalid Mahmood said that at present China is the leader in research. Getz was the first pharmaceutical company in Pakistan to get WHO accreditation. We started local production of insulin after completing bioequivalent studies. Our drug manufacturing plant is spread over twenty-five acres of land and we employ over nine thousand workers. Recently there has been a change in management at the top. We have a succession plan but I had to come back due to certain reasons. Succession plan will take place and we will overcome all this and will continue to not only provide but improve our services to the healthcare profession. He also disclosed that Getz have set up two FDA approved plants in Malaysia and we are the leading pharmaceutical company in drug exports. Our products are exported to many countries of the world.
