They will not only get some stipend but their whole fees will be waived off.
Financial Aid Committee of the JSMU takes care of providing financial assistance to those who earn scholarship on merit as well as those who are provided scholarship on need based. For me the latter group is much more important because we will be helping them become doctors as their families cannot afford and it will improve the status of their families, he added.
Prof.Amjad Siraj Memon further stated that last year over one hundred faculty members have been inducted in JPMC to fill up all the vacant posts which we could not do earlier due to various reasons. Robotic surgery unit has been installed while a department of vascular surgery is also being established which will start functioning in the next two months. Many people lose their limbs due to traffic accidents but in future inshallah all those limbs which can be salvaged will be saved, he remarked.

School of Nursing has been shifted and started functioning at K.V, Site Hospital. Genetic testing for birth defects will be started at the institution shortly. This facility has been provided and sponsored by the Alumni for which we are extremely grateful to them. We have signed Memorandum of Understanding with numerous medical institutions at home and overseas for collaboration in the field if academics and research. PhD in Public Health and Biochemistry is being started. We have arranged healthcare including dental care for members of Karachi Press Club. Pakistan Arts Council now invites our members to their various literary programmes. Addressing the graduates, he said, you have an uphill task before you. Even during Covid students and faculty looked after the patients at great personal risk. However, Covid pandemic also provided us some opportunities and now online teaching, learning, Webinars are a routine. Many people even used to work from home. He congratulated the parents of the graduating students and made a passionate plea to them to let the girls continue to practice and do not force them to sit at home, early marriages and leave medical profession. Let them be useful members of the society and contribute their share in the field which they had selected for them, he remarked.
