LAHORE: Medical Women Association of Pakistan honoured a number of distinguished impactful female healthcare professionals for their contributions to medical education and healthcare at its first National Conference held at University of Lahore on February 26th 2025. Mrs. Shahnaz Raoof wife of late Prof. M. A. Raoof the founder of UOL was the chief guest on this occasion. Mrs. Raoof it may be mentioned here is the Director of HLMC (the Horticulture Land Scaping Management Cell). She is also chairperson of Chaoon Foundation which has the objective of strengthening the collapsed ecosystem and sustainable development of ecosystem by planting trees and making Earth once again a green planet.
Prof. Shakila Zaman PhD an eminent researcher with interest in Epidemiology and Immunology was presented Life Time Achievement Award.
Others who were recognized included from Sindh Province Dr. Lubna Kamani Director GI Residency Programme at Liaquat National Hospital Karachi. She is a renowned Gastroenterologist, President Pakistan GI and Liver Diseases Society.
Prof. Haleema Yasmin is Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at JPMC and former General Secretary of Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists Pakistan. She is also member of education committee of SAROG.
Prof. Mohsina Noor Ibrahim is Prof. of Pediatrics at National Institute of Child Health and Jinnah Sindh Medical University. She is also secretary general of PPA Centre besides being Secretary of Pediatric Faculty at CPSP.
Those selected from the province of KP include Prof. Asiyah Bukhari Director Quality Enhancement Cell at Khyber Medical University. She is founder of Pakistan Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
Prof. Naseem Saba Mahsud is Dean at Gomel Medical College. She played a vital role in accreditation of newly established medical college by CPSP, established and chaired District Chapter of SOGP, has also served as Medical Director of MTI Dera Ismail Khan.
Prof. Mah Muneer is Programme Director for Breast Surgery at Khyber Teaching Hospital. She is also Chairperson Clinical Audit Committee of Khyber Teaching Hospital and Chairperson of Inspection Committee for Postgraduate Training at KTH.
From the province of Baluchistan Prof. Nabiha Farasat Khan Head of the Dept. of Pathology at Bolan Medical College was honoured. She is also Research Director at Bolan University of Medical & Health Sciences. Member Journals Committee of PM&DC. Five distinguished female healthcare professionals were recognized and honoured from the province of Punjab. They included Prof. Saira Afzal, Chairperson Community Medicine and Epidemiology, Director Quality Enhancement Cell and Foreign Affairs and International Linkage at King Edward Medical University. She is also Dean Faculty of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at KEMU and Member of PM&DC Journals Committee.
Prof. Shirza Nadeem is Vice Principal of UMDC, Head of the Dept. of Forensic Medicine, Director Academics, Coordinator of Basic Sciences.
Prof. Tayaba Khawar Butt is Programme Director and Head Faculty of Pediatrics at SIMS, Chairperson and Director of Postgraduate Committee. She also established the Neonatal Unit at SIMS.
Prof. Zohra Khanam is Principal of SIMS, established advanced gynecological endoscopic surgery in Pakistan. She also established the first male nursing college besides upgradation of Nursing and Midwifery College at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore.
Mrs. Rubina Gul with the collaboration of Islamic Aid prioritized child health through its partnership with Children’s Hospital Lahore. She contributed in improving infrastructure, essential facilities and acquiring funding for the first phase of University of Child Health Sciences to make it a center of excellence.
