Medical Women Association of Pakistan’s conference at UOL on February 26th 2025

Speakers will highlight strategies to enhance women’s role in healthcare, leadership, discuss critical issues in female health

LAHORE: Medical Women Association of Pakistan (MWAP) in collaboration with University College of Medicine and Dentistry Lahore are organizing a conference at the University of Lahore Campus on February 26th 2025 says a communication received from the organizers. The event will highlight the role played by women physicians in revolutionizing the healthcare delivery in the country in general and the province of Punjab in particular.
Medical Women Association of Pakistan, it may be mentioned here, consists of female physicians who are enjoying coveted positions all over the country including Principals, Deans and Vice Chancellors alongwith the inspiring young girls in health sector. MWAP is affiliated with Medical Women International Association (MWIA) (http.//mwia.net) which is working for the last many years for wellbeing and the rights of women and girls and female medical professionals. Since its establishment in 1919 in United States, currently it represents over twelve thousand female physicians in more than seventy countries. It was granted consultative status by World Health Organization in 1954 and the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 1987.

Scientific programme will comprise of talks by distinguished female physicians which will highlight pathways to enhance women’s role in healthcare, leadership and community engagement. It is also expected to address numerous critical issues in female health, mental wellbeing and self-care for women professionals. It will also discuss strategies to break barriers in achieving gender equity, combat gender–based violence and promote financial empowerment. The organizers also plan to present Impactful Leader Awards to acknowledge those who have left a legacy in their respective fields.
