MADRID (SPAIN): A delegation of orthopedic surgeons from Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital recently attended the SICOT international conference held at Madrid, Spain. The delegation was led by Prof. Amir Aziz an eminent orthopedic surgeon from Pakistan who heads the Sate of the Art Spinal Surgery Unit established at GTTH.

Sixteen presentations from GTTH and Best Presentation Award
According to reports sixteen papers were presented by delegates from the Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital while Prof. Amir Aziz also delivered an invited talk besides chairing a scientific session. This was the greatest contribution to scientific programme from one institution in Pakistan. Dr. Sahir one of the Registrars of Prof. Amir Aziz also won the best paper prize worth one thousand US dollars for Halo pelvic device.

Spinal Surgery Unit at Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital it may be mentioned here has been declared as the best State of the Art Spinal surgery unit by Pakistan Orthopedic Association as well as by international organizations. It attracts many patients from overseas as well. It is equipped with the most modern sophisticated instruments and equipment. The operation theatre suit has over half a dozen operation theatres which run round the clock and all emergencies received are immediately operated most often the same day. Prof. Amir Aziz has also trained over two hundred orthopedic surgeons so far who are working all over Pakistan besides overseas. Doctors from overseas also come here for training.
