DUHS Joins GlobalType-1 Diabetes Initiative

KARACHI: The National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (NIDE), Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health Promotion Foundation (HPF) to launch the Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC) project. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive care for children with type 1 diabetes.
Under this program, all registered children with type-1 diabetes will receive free insulin, glucometers, and glucometer strips, The clinic at NIDE was formally inaugurated following the MoU signing.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Abdul Basit from HPF and Dr. Ashar Afaq, Registrar of DUHS. The CDIC project is a global initiative being implemented in collaboration with Novo Nordisk and Roche across 18 countries. In Pakistan, the program has been active for the last three years with 26 centers already established. NIDE becomes the 27th center to join this life-saving initiative.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Musarrat Riaz, director NIDE stated that this partnership reflects a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for children living with Type-1 diabetes in Pakistan. (PR)
