BANGKOK: It was a proud milestone and a major breakthrough for Pakistan’s public health efforts, when the “Discovering Diabetes” initiative — a pioneering national program aimed at tackling the diabetes epidemic was showcased at the IDF World Diabetes Congress 2025 in Bangkok. This is a commendable effort which highlights Pakistan’s innovative approach to diabetes prevention and management firmly on the global map.

Discovering Diabetes, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of PharmEvo (Pvt) Ltd., is committed to empowering the Pakistani population through early detection, widespread community screening, digital innovation, and patient-centered education. The initiative was presented at the Congress by Dr. Masood Jawaid, capturing the attention of a global audience of healthcare leaders, researchers, and policymakers.
At the heart of the project is DiBot, an AI-powered digital assistant that tracks individuals’ diabetes risk, connects patients with healthcare professionals, and provides communities with consultations, dietary advice, and treatment options. Since its launch, the program has impacted nearly one million individuals, demonstrating the power of scalable, technology-driven public health solutions.

With Pakistan recording the world’s highest age-standardized diabetes prevalence (31.4% among adults), Discovering Diabetes addresses an urgent national need. It is actively working to close the critical 26.9% gap in undiagnosed cases, with ambitions to transform the lives of over 33 million undiagnosed diabetic individuals across the country.
The project’s presentation at the IDF Congress — which gathered over 6,300 delegates from more than 160 countries — was a proud moment for Pakistan, aligning the country’s efforts with global strategies for prevention, early detection, and integrated care.
