Colleague faculty members pay rich tributes to Prof. Ijaz Hussain on his retirement

He was an asset for the King Edward
Medical University – Prof. Mahmood Ayaz

LAHORE: The one hundred fifty-one academic council meeting of King Edward Medical Univesity was held recently. It was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayaz and a large number of important issues were discussed.

Prof. Mahmood Ayaz alongwith Prof. Moin presenting a mementoe to Prof. Ijaz Hussain on his retirement from KEMU during the 151st Academic Council meeting held recently.

An important item of the agenda was to say farewell to Prof. Ijaz Hussain Prof. of Dermatology who retired after thirty four years of devoted service. A number of colleague faculty members paid him rich tributes and recalled his contributions to the Univesity. Prof. Mahmood Ayaz said he was an asset for the Univesity and we all will miss him.

Others who also spoke in the occasion included Prof. Moin Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar Prof. Imran, Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Ahsan Nauman, Prof. Abrar Ashraf, Dr. Uzma and others. They highlighted is humanistic qualities who extended help and assistance to everyone, gave respect to others and also earned respect for himself. He kept himself away from medical politics throughout his professional career of thirty four years out of which twenty five years were spent at the King Edward Medical College, He is a graduate of KEMC and retired from this prestigious institution. He had keen interest in academics and also served as the Editor of Journal of Dermatology published by the Pakistan Association of Dermatologists. A thorough gentleman, he is a man of very few words and believes in concentrating on teaching, training and patient care.

Speaking at the occasion Prof. Ijaz Hussain thanked the faculty members for their kind words, love and affection. I always received valuable guidance from the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayaz and thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this great institution. Prof. Mahmood Ayaz VC alongwith Pro VC Prof. Moin presented a Memento to Prof. Ijaz Hussain and later group photograph of the Academic Council was also organized to make it a memorable event.
