KARACHI: Otsuka Pakistan has joined hands with the Aga Khan University Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (AKU-CIME) in collaboration with the Clinical Nutrition Department at AKUH, to initiate a series of training sessions on: Mastering TPN for Better Clinical Outcomes. A formal agreement to initiate this collaboration was signed at AKU-CIME on May 23, 2025 by Dr. Faisal Ismail, Regional Director (South Asia), AKU-CIME, and M. Moin-ur-Rehman, President, Otsuka Pakistan. Senior leadership from both organizations were present to witness the ceremony.

The partnership aims to enhance healthcare capacity through a series of simulation-based workshops and CME-accredited sessions under the umbrella of the Otsuka Clinical Nutrition Excellence Forum. The first event, a full-day hands-on workshop focused on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) will be held on June 2, 2025. With AKU-CIME being accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, the workshop will equip healthcare professionals with essential skills in clinical nutrition and patient safety.
AKU’s CIME is a state-of-the-art simulation centre—recognized as the most advanced in Pakistan and East Africa—committed to transforming healthcare education through innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships. The collaboration with Otsuka reinforces both organizations’ shared mission to improve clinical outcomes and drive patient-centered care.
Speaking at the signing, Dr Faisal Ismail emphasized the significance of this alliance. Being a doctor, I am well aware of the tradition of quality and focus on patient safety that comes with the name of Otsuka. We partner only with organizations that share our values—and I see this as a wonderful collaboration for high-impact capacity-building. This workshop isn’t just another CME; it’s part of a larger vision to offer real, practice-based learning that benefits both healthcare providers and the communities we serve, he added.
Mr Moin-ur-Rehman, President of Otsuka Pakistan stated that purpose of this agreement is to foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration with Aga Khan University, an institution renowned for its commitment to quality and excellence. This pilot project marks the beginning of a broader initiative that we aim to expand across other regions of the country. Despite the withdrawal of many multinational pharmaceutical companies from Pakistan, Otsuka remains committed to providing high-quality products and ensuring that the people of Pakistan continue to have access to trusted healthcare solutions.”
This workshop will be attended by leading HCPs from major hospital of Karachi d who are expected to attend the inaugural workshop, which will be led by nutritionists from AKU. The event underscores a growing commitment to academic–industry collaboration in advancing healthcare standards in Pakistan.
