KARACHI: Prof. Akhtar Sherin, Professor of Medicine from Kohat who is also Chief Editor of Khyber Medical University Journal and former President of Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) and Vice President Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) visited newly established offices of Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences on April 17trh 2025. He was accompanied by Prof. Maj. Gen. (Retd) Muhammad Aslam former Vice Chancellor of UHS and currently affiliated with City University, Islamabad.

Durning their recent visit to Karachi to participate in pre-conference seminar on Scientific Writing and Quality Publications during PSIM Conference. Prof. Maj. Gen. M. They were visiting Karachi to participate in the pre-conference Seminar on Scientific Writing and Quality Publications which was one of the pre-conference academic activities during Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine’s 6th International Conference held at Karachi from April 17th to 20th 2025.
During their visit they were briefed about the working of the Journal, the initial screening, internal review, external review of manuscripts received for publication. Different support staff members are assigned different tasks and publication of the journal is a team work.
During this visit future program of CME courses which the UHS is running in collaboration with PAME were also discussed. Recording his impression Prof. Akhtar Sherin commended the contributions which the Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences and its Chief Editor Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid has made to promote the discipline of medical journalism in Pakistan. PJMS enjoys the highest Impact Factor among biomedical journals published from Pakistan and has set standards for biomedical journals including ethical publication practices.
