A Must-Read on AI for All Healthcare Professionals: A Book That Deliver
When I first picked up “Artificial Intelligence for Health Professionals” by Dr. Rehan Ahmed Khan and Dr. Masood Jawaid, I was a little skeptical. A book on a field that is evolving almost daily? I wondered whether it could stay relevant or offer anything beyond what is already available online.
I am glad to report that it exceeded expectations.
“The book is well-researched, clearly written, and practically structured. It manages to speak to both clinicians and medical educators, which is no small feat. From content development to powerful presentations, and from assessment to academic writing and future-facing innovations, it touches upon a broad range of topics with relevance and depth. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of AI tools that are genuinely useful but not often discussed.
Each chapter builds up logically from introduction to the topic and progresses seamlessly to practical considerations. There are multiple examples within all the areas and suggestions that hold good for professionals belonging to various healthcare specialties and with variable levels of experience. A devoted chapter for the ethics in using AI in medical education was very important and well-appreciated.
One minor point: A little more focus on editing in future editions (I am sure there will be future editions!) would be great. A small but telling example is the repeated use of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” multiple times within the book. The abbreviation being explained multiple times sounded tedious after some time.
A suggestion: Including brief explanations of the MCQ answers at the end of each chapter would make the book even more valuable as a learning resource.
Overall, this is a commendable effort and a timely contribution for any healthcare professional seeking to understand and apply AI meaningfully in academic or clinical contexts. Well done, Dr. Rehan Ahmed Khan and Dr. Masood Jawaid.”
