Academic collaboration between RCP and KEMU, opportunities for training overseas discussed

RCP President Sarah Clarke visits KEMU

Lahore: President of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Dr. Sarah Clarke, and Dr. Sebastian Alexander visited King Edward Medical University Lahore recently. The purpose of the visit was to develop mutual collaborations and explore opportunities for providing overseas training to King Edward Medical University students, postgraduates and to promote a bilateral educational collaboration.

Speaking on this occasion she expressed her delight in visiting KEMU the historic medical institution. She emphasized the need to initiate bilateral programs to promote academic collaboration and commended the progress made by the King Edward Medical University for which the credit goes to the university leadership and its faculty. Dr. Clarke also expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality and assured her commitment to fostering mutual cooperation in the medical field. She encouraged students to nurture their creative intelligence and build professional relationships, emphasizing that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, welcomed the esteemed guests from UK to the 164-year-old prestigious medical institution, King Edward Medical University. He acknowledged Dr. Asad Rahim’s significant contributions to CPSP abroad and praised Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz for his commendable services not only to King Edward but also to CPSP, which have led to notable successes for both institutions.
Vice Chancellor of KEMU Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz in his welcome address greeted the distinguished guests. He gave a brief presentation highlighting the recent achievements of King Edward Medical University, including the services of nine affiliated hospitals, the establishment of a Biobank and artificial intelligence school and the university’s impressive QS ranking.

The delegation interacted with MBBS students, answering their questions. Prof. Nakhshab Chaudhry conducted a detailed tour of the Department of Biomedical Sciences KEMU. The delegation also visited the Department of Anatomy, the School of Artificial Intelligence, and the Archive Gallery.

On this occasion, Professor of KEMU Prof. Adil Iqbal was honored for his services upon his retirement, and Dr. Sarah Clarke, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz and others, presented him with a commemorative shield. Dr. Clarke thanked Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz and his team for the invitation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz presented a commemorative shield to Dr. Sarah Clarke on behalf of the university and souvenirs were given to all the distinguished guests. Many faculty members of the Univesity were also present on this occasion.
