Shaukat Ali Jawaid
We all should be grateful and thank Allah Pak for its unlimited blessings. Let us look at millions of people in the country who are deprived of the facilities that we enjoy rather than looking at those who are much more affluent than us. I consider myself the luckiest person in Pakistan because Allah Pak has given me much more than what I deserve. President of Pakistan Gen. Ayub Khan provided me a financial assistance of three hundred rupees on my request in 1965 which enabled me to continue my studies as after two months, I got the scholarship money which was enough to help me carry on with my studies. I remain thankful to him forever as that was a turning point in my professional career.
Then all my children became doctors while studying in public sector medical colleges which had a very nominal tution fee. The State was in fact paying for their education as I myself could not afford that, hence now is the time to pay back and we are all trying to contribute to the welfare of the society in whatever little way we can. Helping others in need is very dear to us as a family. If someone else is not paying the taxes, this is no excuse for me not to pay my income tax. As this country gave me a lot, name and fame, an identity, it is my duty to pay back and contribute to the development of this country. The day I got financial assistance from the government in 1965, I had decided to serve this country with honesty, devotion and dedication. It is the commitment which I made with myself which keeps me moving and gives me enormous professional satisfaction.
However, there is a segment in the society which is in the habit of complaining all the time. It is not easy to live and progress, prosper in this financially and intellectually corrupt society but then giving up is not the solution. We cannot change the society but we can chance ourselves and try to influence the other family members, friends and colleagues with whom we come in contact to bring a change in their attitudes and thinking. Pakistan is the greatest gift of Allah Pak and we all should be proud of it. Most of those who spread hopelessness, express helplessness, promote hatred rather than love and harmony in the society have either been a part of the loot and plunder or were enjoying lot of perks and privileges and once they are deprived of it, they turn against the government of the day and even cross all limits to project the negative image of Pakistan. Let us pray for them as well that Allah Pak shows them the Right Path. There is no dearth of people even in the medical profession who have always and keep on projecting the positive image of Pakistan. Kind hearted, God faring these healthcare professionals have and continue to show with their deeds their love and affection with the ailing humanity and are playing a vital role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Let us commend their contributions, love and respect them as they are the real Asset for the country.
Pray never ever use the pronoun “it” for Allah/God/Khuda. The correct pronoun is “He/Him/His”
