108 students awarded degrees while 17 position holders earn Medals

AJKMC organizes its 5th Convocation

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College in Muzaffarabad organized its fifth convocation to celebrate the 7th batch of medical graduates. Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, was the special guest. At the convocation, 108 medical students received their graduation degrees, and 17 students were honored with gold, silver, and bronze medals for achieving top positions.

The convocation was very well attended. Also present on the occasion were Secretary of Health Raja Abdul Sattar Khan, Representative Vice-Chancellor UHS Dr. Allah Rakha, Principal Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College Prof. Dr. Syed Mulazim Hussain Bukhari, Prof. Mehraj, Prof. Shaukat Hayat Khan, Dr. Ijaz, Prof. Dr. Arif, Dr. Ayub, Medical Faculty, representatives from the civil society and medical students.

Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, in his speech emphasized the noble nature of the medical profession, stating that doctors serve as servants. The Speaker also mentioned the challenges in establishing medical colleges, the need for significant resources in healthcare, and the importance of medical students graduating to serve society. He stressed the importance of morality, compassion, understanding, awareness, and the spirit of humanity’s welfare as essential qualities for true success. The available resources will be utilized for the promotion of modern education and the improvement of the medical field. Steps he further stated are needed to improve the Internet service. The situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is extremely bad and they stand with the people of Kashmir, they will continue to raise their voices against Indian aggression at every forum in the world. He congratulated the graduating students and their parents, as well teachers of the medical college.

Prof. Syed Mulazim Hussain Bukhari said that there is no wealth greater than knowledge, no adornment greater than modesty, no position greater than humility, and no height greater than endurance. There is no greater wealth than useful consultation. All possible measures are being taken within the available resources for the improvement of the medical college.

The role of medical faculty he stated, is exemplary in promoting quality education. The teachers have made Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College one of the best institutes in a short period of time. Students should serve the country and the nation, move forward with selfless spirit and dedicate themselves to the service of humanity. Research and inquiry are great qualities and paths to success. He advised the students to prioritize research and play a role in solving problems through research for an exemplary positive role.

Those who earned medals included Fayyaz Rafiq, Aliza Zaheer, Arooba Naseem, Habiba Jan Qureshi, Afifah, Munahil Parvez, Amna Naseer, Rumisa Awan, Adnan Arif, Farheen Tanveer Sheikh, Abdul Khaliq Kayani, and Dr. Shaukat Bukhari.
