from SIMS elected General & Joint Secretary respectively
KARACHI: Pakistan Association of Medical Editors has elected its new office bearers for the next two years and all the office bearers have been elected unanimously. Prof. S.H Waqar Prof. of Surgery from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences who is affiliated with Annals of PIMS will take over as new President of the association replacing Prof. Muhammad Irfan. Prof. Nadia Naseem from University of Health Sciences who is Editor of BIOMEDICA the official journal of UHS has been elected as President-elect. She is also the focal person of CME courses which are run by UHS in collaboration with PAME.
Prof. Tayyiba Waseem Prof of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Services Institute of Medical Sciences who is the Chief Editor of Esculapio (official Journal of SIMS) has been elected as Joint Secretary. Members of the Executive committee from Sindh, Baluchistan and KPK have also been elected unanimously. President-elect and Joint Secretary in the new Executive are already from the province of Punjab. This overwhelming support reflects the trust and confidence our members have in the capabilities of the nominees. The elections were conducted through electronic voting by e mail and February 28th was the last date for nominations’. As such as per the election result announced by Dr. Masood Jawaid outgoing General Secretary of PAME the new cabinet and executive members will comprise of the following:

PAME sincerely hopes that the new executive members will work with devotion and dedication to promote the cause of medical journalism in Pakistan and objectives of PAME. Editors of various journals in big cities like Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi-Islamabad and Peshawar should meet at least once in three months by rotation in different institutions, share their knowledge and experience with their colleagues and try to help each other. They can also share their resources and facilities if possible. PAME senior leadership will be monitoring their activities and will be too glad to help and assist them if asked.
