531 doctors get Degrees at CPSP
Convocation at Lahore

LAHORE: The former President of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) Professor Khawja Saadiq Hussain was the chief guest at the 48th Convocation held here recently. Speaking at the occasion he said that CPSP has produced medical professionals with skills of international standards and this has ensured in tremendous progress in the field of medicine and surgery in the country. The college has been active in providing high standard specialist training and education to its fellows in diverse fields of the profession, he added.

The President of the college Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry congratulated the successful candidates for their achievements. He said that the top priority of the college has been provision of quality training and high value research to its trainees. The development and extension in the infrastructure and provision of high-tech facilities at various CPSP regional centers across the country has helped the students in their academic, training and research pursuits. He further said that the rigorous training of the fellows has resulted in high remunerations to the fellows across the world.

Highlighting the CPSP efforts on the national and international level he said that the state-of-the-art e-log system of the college has gained distinction on the international level. He said that the incumbent council of the CPSP has provided the best benefits of the medical profession to the doctors and surgeons at the international level in a way that has no precedent.

Five hundred and thirty-one doctors were awarded post-graduate degrees in the convocation. These included 430 who got FCPS, 89 MCPS, 9 MCPS for Health Professional Education, 2 DCPS and one Gold Medal. The convocation was attended by the members of the CPSP Council and a large number of medical professionals. (PR)

 Cervical cancer prevention,
Screening & Colposcopy training

KARACHI: Dr. Sadiah Ahsan Pal FRCOG and Dr. Noreen Zafar FRCOG will be conducting a training session on cervical cancer prevention, screening and colposcopy at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi, and Najmuddin Auditorium Complex Hall B on November 18th 2014. Timings 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM

The topics which will be discussed include introduction to cervix cancer, Pap Smear and HPV screening, HPV vaccination, Colposcopic terminology, abnormal colposcopy, treatment guidelines, Setting up a Colposcopy Service, Case discussions in small groups, difficult clinical situations besides Practical demonstration of treatment techniques and setting up equipment.
