Children Hospital Lahore
Symposium on March 18-19th2016

LAHORE: The Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health Lahore is organizing its 11th annual symposium on March 18-19th2016.  According to a communication received from the organizers the first plenary session on March 18th will be jointly chaired by Prof. Sajid Maqbool, Prof. Jamal Raza, Prof. Nazir Malik, Prof. Rai Asghar and Dr. Salish Rao. Moderator for this session will be Dr. Najam Haider.

Prof. Tahir Shamsi from NIBD Karachi will deliver Shaukat Raza Khan Memorial Lecture on Bone Marrow Transplant. The other plenary lecture in this session will be delivered by Dr. Khalid Sharif from Birmingham Children’s Hospital UK and his topic will be organ transplant. In the next session Prof. Jamal Raza will deliver State of the Art lecture on Management issues of IDDM in Children while Dr. Satish Rao from UK will be the other speaker in this session.  This will be followed by a free paper session.

The second session has been devoted to panel discussion on Immunization and the panelists include Profs Amin Jan, Asghar Butt, Ayesha Mehanz, Gohar Rehman, Imran Iqbal, Jamal Raza, Mubarak Ali, Nadeem Khawar, Rai Asghar and Waqar Rabbani.

On second day of the conference March 19th the second   plenary session will have two speakers. Dr. Ali Akbar from UK will talk about MDR in Children while Dr. Neelam Mohan from India will speak on recent advances in Management of Hepatitis B in Children.  In the next session Prof. Mushtaq Imran will deliver state of the art lecture on Tissue Engineering of the urinary bladder-future perspectives followed by Dr. Muary Munazza Taj from UK who will speak on recent advances in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia treatment. It will be followed b a free paper session.

In the third plenary session Dr. Nandita De Suza from India will speak on ADHD-protocols and Practice in a Community Based Child Development Centre. Mr. Salman Kirmani and Dr. Zara Fadoo from AKU will delve state of the art lectures on Practical approach to disorders of sex development and How to improve outcome in Childhood cancer. It will be followed by free paper session. The symposium will conclude with an Experts Panel Discussion on Taking children to the District. The opening remarks by Prof. Masood Sadiq will be followed by comments by paediatricians from various districts from all over the province of Punjab. The symposium will be preceded by workshops on Airway Clearance technique, Practical demonstration/hands on training, Nutrition in cystic fibrosis and importance of dietary supplements and practical demonstration/hands on training.


 PAME Third National Conference
at UHS Lahore on April 1-2, 2016

LAHORE: Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME), University of Health Sciences and Health RAB is organizing its Third National Conference at UHS Lahore from April 1-2, 2016. Pre- conference workshops on Medical writing and Publication Ethics will be held on March 31st at UHS Campus from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM. Workshops on Editorship, Peer Review and Introducing Technology in Medical Journalism will be held on April 2nd from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon.
Prof. Nizamuddin Chairman Punjab Higher EducationCommissions will be the Chief Guest at the inaugural session on April 1st at 10.00 AM while Prof. Ijaz Ahsan and Prof. Tahir Saeed Haroon will be the Guest of Honour and Chief Guest respectively at Conference Dinner on April 1st 2016 being held at the UHS campus. UHS has approved Twelve CME Credit Hours for this conference and Three CME Credit Hours for each workshop.

Prof. Arif Herekar

KARACHI: Professor Arif Herekar was honoured by the Pakistan Society of neurology after he became the first Pakistani Neurologist to Hoist the Pakistani flag on the soil of Antarctic continent and also became the first Pakistani Neurologist to camp on the soil of Antarctica, cross the notorious, most dangerous Drake passage that connects Argentina to Antarctica.
