Pakistan to host 36th
CMAAO Meeting in 2021

MALAYSIA: A delegation of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), comprising of Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami, President PMA Centre, Dr. S.M. Qaisar Sajjad, Secretary General PMA Centre, Abdul Quddus Khokhar, Dr. Sahibzada Masood-us-syed and Dr. Sikandar Warraich, have returned back from Penang, Malaysia after attending 33rd CMAAO (Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania) General Assembly and 54th Council Meeting from 12-14 September, 2018.

 Secretary General PMA Dr. S.M. Qaisar Sajjad, presented the Country Report of Pakistan Medical Association, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami President PMA delivered a talk on the theme of the meeting, “Path to Universal Health Coverage”. Medical Associations from different countries had also attended this meeting. The representatives of Medical Associations also presented their Country Reports and the status of their countries regarding the theme as well. Regarding the theme of the meeting final draft was furnished. “Universal Health Coverage (UHC) means that all people and communities can use the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship. The 33rd CMAAO General Assembly also decided to hold the 36th CMAAO General Assembly Meeting in Pakistan in 2021. Dr. Ravindran Naidu, took over the charge of President of Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania (CMAAO) whereas Dr. K. K. Aggarwal from India took charge as President-elect of the Association. PMA delegation during their stay also had informal meetings with the delegates from other countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Taiwan, Litvia, Korea, Nepal, Philippine, Australia and Brazil.
