Dengue Crash
Course at KEMU

Keeping in view the high number of Dengue cases in Punjab especially in Lahore, KEMU in collaboration with Health Department Government of Punjab, and Dengue Expert Advisory Group, arranged a comprehensive session for all Tertiary and Secondary care public sector hospitals of Lahore, and private hospitals and clinics in the vicinity. Both clinical and administrative personnel from various hospitals participated. This academic activity was also shared on Zoom and attended by health professionals from other locations online. Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik an eminent physician and former Principal of King Edward Medical College was the chief guest on this occasion. Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal as guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Haroon Hamid, Chairman Paediatric KEMU and member DEAG, stressed on the key points in management in Paediatric patients and the recent change in DEAG Guidelines. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session. Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik, in his concluding remarks applauded the efforts of VC KEMU and his team for organizing such academic activities.

Earlier Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal highlighted the importance of training for the patient betterment. He commended the efforts of the KEMU faculty and their teams for playing pivotal role in the COVID-19 crisis, and now Dengue, along with all other academic, research and service delivery. He stressed on the importance of health providers about education regarding its prevention and active management. He extended his full support for such training courses in future.

Prof. Saira Afzal, Dean Public Health and Chairperson Community Medicine spoke on epidemiology and prevention of the disease. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, explained the various clinical manifestation, disease pathogenesis, complications and warning signs of leak syndrome. She mentioned about services of Tele Dengue established under the supervision of VC KEMU.

 Dr. Faisal Khosa says
Medical students should
know latest technology
and innovations

LAHORE: Dr. Faisal Khosa a noted radiologist from Canada recently visited King Edward Medical University where he delivered two lectures on one on Career Counselling for Training Opportunities in Europe, Canada and USA and other on Imaging of Liver Lesions Made Ridiculously Simple. Dr. Khosa highlighted the importance of correct diagnosis before treatment. He said that our students should be well aware of the latest technology and innovations being made in medical profession. Pakistani Doctors are highly respected all over the world due to their outstanding performance.

During his visit to Telemedicine Department, Dr. Faisal Khosa appreciated the efforts of KEMU Faculty on providing quality Medical Education to the under and Postgraduates and Tele Consultation to the ailing humanity by establishing State of the Art Telemedicine Dept. at KEMU under supervision of Prof. Bilquis Shabbir. He further said that the services of Faculty of KEMU are highly commendable and unforgettable to combat COVID 19 Pandemic and Dengue Fever, as front line soldiers.

Earlier Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor welcomed Dr. Faisal Khosa who apart from his professional capabilities always helped Pakistani doctors to get residency in UK, USA, Canada and many other countries. He is a true ambassador of medical fraternity of Pakistan. (PR)
