NIU launches its first
Academic program

LAHORE: NUR International University (NIU) – Chartered by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and recognized by the Government of Punjab launched its first Academic Program recently. NUR International University is the latest endeavor of Mrs. ShahimaRehman – Chairperson NUR Foundation which is based on the vision of providing high quality education.

The Mission of NUR International University is to provide a holistic education experience that promotes multidisciplinary studies, incorporating values and ethics and international best practices. The aim is to promote critical thinking amongst the students to equip them to understand and face the challenges of knowledge economy. In the world today where knowledge is the most valuable resource a comprehensive and objective worldview is required to enable students to become leaders in the global village. 

The first program being introduced by NUR International University is BSc. Clinical Nutrition (Hons) part of the School of Life & Applied Sciences which combines the basic core of Nutrition but includes additional courses and will be recognized by HEC in Pakistan and globally accepted. The first batch of students who will graduate in the year 2019 were part of the orientation ceremony which introduced them to NUR International University, its vision and the expectations from the students by the institution.

 The programme consisted of presentation on NUR International University by EhsanGulsher – Academic Coordinator NIU& NUR Center for Research& Policy by Dr. Roomi Aziz – Director Program NCRP followed by addresses from Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi – Chairman, Board of Governors, NUR International University, Prof. Jamshed Nasir – Principal, FMH College Medicine & Dentistry and Ms. Shazia Zahra – Head of Programme, Clinical Nutrition NIU will launch two more schools i.e. School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Management in the fall of 2016 making several quality undergraduate programs available to future students.(PR

Surgical Oncology conference
at Lahore on Feb. 4-5, 2016

LAHORE:  Surgical Oncological Society of Pakistan is organizing its 8th Cancer Surgery Conference at Lahore from February 4-5, 2016. The Education Week starting Feb. 1-5, 2016 has been accredited for Thirty CME credit hours for the registered participants.

Scientific programme includes Meet the Experts sessions on colorectal cancer and gastro esophageal cancer from United States, UK, Spain, France, Japan and India through Video link. There will be special session on Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Upper and GI Cancer, Hepatobilliary Pancreatic Cancer, Pelvic Cancer, Holistic/Palliative Cancer Care, Head and Neck Cancer, Soft Tissue, Skin, Bone Cancer.  There will be pre conference live surgery and Cadaver workshops at SIMS, University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, and Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore.
