Martin Dow pledges two Bone
Marrow Transplant rooms at SKMCH

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Martin Dow Group Mr. Ali Akhai and Group MD & CEO, Mr. Javed Ghulam Mohammad called on Prime Minister of Pakistan recently. They pledged to establish Two Bone Marrow Transplant Rooms at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center at Karachi.

The Chairman and Group MD & CEO also apprised the Prime Minister on the potential of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry and shared details on the pharmaceutical sector’s role in contributing to the economy of Pakistan. They appreciated the initiative taken by him for the treatment of cancer patients which has been of great help to a large number of patients.

During the meeting, the Chairman briefed the Prime Minister on Martin Dow and its legacy for excellence and philanthropy, and highlighted the need for innovation and up-gradation of technology in the pharmaceutical sector of Pakistan, which with continuous support from the government, would play a vital part in the development of the country.

Mr. Javed Ghulam Mohammad, Group MD & CEO, Martin Dow shared his plan to locally develop and manufacture Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry through joint ventures with leading Chinese companies. Such business partnerships will result in self-reliance to produce high quality medicines for the country need and will save precious foreign exchange through import substitution. The potential to export pharmaceuticals to Central Asia and African markets was also discussed which could lead to substantial increase foreign exchange earning with the Pakistan Pharmaceutical industry playing a crucial role in the overall economic growth of the country.(PR)
