Prof. Tariq Bhutta promises
positive changes in PM&DC

LAHORE: The newly elected president of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Prof. Tariq Iqbal Bhutta and Vice President Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan recently visited King Edward Medical University and addressed the faculty members. Speaking at the occasion Prof. Tariq Iqbal Bhutta said that we will bring positive changes in PM&DC in coming days. The standardized system under the supervision of undergraduate medical education and postgraduate levels will provide the best doctor to the nation. We are making the arrangements for online registration and other certifications of doctors on priority basis so that the unnecessary visits of the doctors to PM&DC offices can be avoided. In response to question he said that the Council will work on merit without any external pressure. KEMU, he said, was a role model for all the medical Institutions and the intuitions recognized by PM&DC should follow similar standards in education and research.

Vice President Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan said that with the mutual cooperation and coordination of medical institutions we will improve the training system and medical education according the international standards.

Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal speaking on this occasion said that ongoing developmental projects of the University are being completed on priority basis. He further said that we should be proud of the fact that current leadership of the PM&DC graduated from this historical institution. At the end the Vice Chancellor requested the PM&DC to register PhD programs of KEMU in clinical subjects also. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Registrar KEMU, Prof. Irshad Hussain Qureshi, Deans members of Academic Council and HODs of all departments were also present. (PR)
