HealthRAB Signs MoU with
DOGANA for Research Webinars

KARACHI: HealthRAB (Health Research Advisory Board) has signed an MoU with DOGANA (Dow Grad Association of North America) for research seminar and joint research studies. The MOU was signed by Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmad on behalf of Health RAB. Dr. Asif Mohiuddin, President DOGANA, accompanied by Dr. Danish Saeed President Elect, signed it representing DOGANA. Also present on this occasion were Prof. Dr. Ejaz Vohra & Prof. Dr. Shahid Noor.The MoU signing event was a part of DOGANA’s Annual Winter Meeting which was held at Arag Auditorium, Dow Medical College, Karachi on 29th December, 2015.  Those who spoke on this occasion included Dr. Faisal Khosa, Prof. Dr. Ali Musani, Prof. Dr. Najmul Hassan, Dr. Usman Siddique and Dr. Lubna Sorathia from the US.

Dr. Asif Mohiuddin presented the Annual Report of DOGANA and Dr. Zakiuddin gave an introduction of HealthRAB. As per the MoU HealthRAB will be collaborating with DOGANA in two areas; first to organize Monthly Research Webinars by renowned researchers who are members of DOGANA. Secondly, DOGANA will be collaborating with HealthRAB for Joint Research Studies. Prof. Dr. Ali Musani, (Professor of Medicine, Chief, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Director, Interventional Pulmonology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin) was given the responsibility from DOGANA as its coordinator. Chinese Doctors
delegation visits CPSP

KARACHI: A delegation of Chinese doctors who participated in the First Pakistan-China MEDCONG organized by Pakistan Medical Association at Karachi visited CPSP during their visit to Pakistan. They were accompanied by Prof Tipu Sultan and other important members of the PMA.   President of CPSP Prof. Zaffar Ullah Chaudhry welcoming the delegation also highlighted the achievements and accomplishments of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. He also discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation. 

Chinese Medical Association delegation recently visited Pakistan to participate in First Pak-China MEDCONG organized by PMA at Karachi last month. The Chinese delegates also paid a visit to College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. The group photograph taken on this occasion shows them with Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry President and other Council members of CPSP besides senior members of the organizing committee from PMA including Prof. S. Tipu Sultan.

 Admiring the CPSP, the President of Chinese delegation Keqin Rao declared CPSP as a role model for the region. He further stated that by virtue of this mutual corporation both the countries will benefit.  Specialist doctors will take benefits out of it.  The delegation members were introduced to the CPSP Council members present on this occasion and they also visited various departments of the college.  Diploma in Aviation
Medicine at DUHS

KARACHI: Dow University has started new batch of Diploma in Aviation Medicine (5th Batch) at School of Public Health, Ojha Campus. An Orientation Session was held today at School of Public Health, OJHA campus to give an introduction and brief overview of the curriculum and teaching methodology to the new entrants. The Session was attended by the senior faculty members besides new postgraduate students.

Dr. Ghulam Kadir Shaikh, Program Director, Aviation/ Occupation Medicine, DUHS gave a brief overview of Diploma in Aviation Medicine. He informed that according to International Airline Travel Association studies, more than 1.5 billion people travelled all over the globe in year 2013 requiring Aviation medicine specialist to provide guidelines to airline passengers during in flight emergences on long haul flights .  Aviation medicine is a branch of occupational medicine which deals with the health and well being of personal associated with aviation industry and passengers travelling by air. The aim of this diploma course is to prepare doctors as Aviation Medicine Specialist / Flight Surgeons acquiring optimal level of professional competence to meet the challenges of 21st century. Three courses have been completed successfully and many of these graduates are serving in private sector and airline industry. (PR)
