Bioethics Course for Residents of
Obstetrics and Surgery at DUHS

KARACHI: The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-II at Dow University of Health Sciences recently organized a Bioethics Course for the residents of obstetrics and surgery. The course consisted of ten sessions held at Dow Medical College which were attended by twenty participants. The course was organized by Prof. Nazli Hossain, Professor & Chairperson Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Facilitators from CEBEC-SIUT also helped in this course. Each session was accredited with CME Credit.

Speaking in the concluding session Dr. Nazli Hossain, gave an overview of the subjects taught to the residents. Prof. Farhat Moazam, founding Chairperson CBEC-SIUT appreciated efforts of Dr. Nazli Hossain. Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof. Saeed Quraishy promised his continued support from administration.  36,904 students appear in 
NUMS-MDCAT entry test 2018

RAWALPINDI: National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) has been declared as Admitting University by Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination, Islamabad on recommendation of PM&DC to conduct Entry Test (NUMS - MDCAT) and Centralized Admissions of Medical and Dental Colleges of the regions i.e. ICT, Cantonment areas and AJ&K, not forming part of any province for the session 2018-19.

As such NUIMS has to process admission of 2770 MBBS/BDS seats (MBBS, 2405 & BDS, 365) in following universities/colleges:

Besides the MBBS/BDS Programs, NUMS MDCAT 2018 is also valid for admission to Allied Health Sciences program of NUMS B.S (Hons), Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), and Cardiac Perfusion (CP).

The NUMS-MDCAT was conducted on Sunday, 18 November 2018 at 65 centers spread over 18 cities of Pakistan. Total 36,904 candidates appeared in the test. It was first time in Pakistan’s history that an exam center was established in Gilgit for MDCAT to facilitate students of far flung Northern Areas of the country. Foolproof security was provided at all the test centers for the smooth conduction of test and to prevent any disruption with coordination of the respective district authorities.

NUMS Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed and Pro Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam visited various centers of twin city and appreciated the staff for making these arrangements. The NUMS, now, would undertake the responsibility of centralized admission in the medical/dental colleges of constituent, affiliated, public and private sectors in the region. Hopefully, the first merit list of public sector medical/dental colleges will be displayed on December 20th 2018 and for the private sector on Friday, 28 December 2018. (PR)
