LAHORE: An international conference on Simulations, Simulated and Standardized Patients in Health Professional’s Education is being organized by University of Health Sciences at its campus from November 21-22nd 2014. Emerging Trends and Global Perspectives is the theme of the conference which is likely to be attended by a number of eminent guest speakers from overseas as well. The conference is being organized in collaboration with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan, Pakistan Medial Research Council and Pakistan Science Foundation.

According to Prof. Junaid Sarfaraz Khan Pro Vice Chancellor of UHS the objectives of the conference are to provide discussion plateforms for health professionals and educators to exchange research outcome, views and experiences in the area of Simulations, Simulated and Standardized Patients in Health Professional’s Education. Other objectives include to encourage development of collaborative linkages and co-operative research in Health Professional Education while the third objective is to provide an opportunity for capacity building in the area of Health Professional’s Education. Some of the invited Keynote speakers are Dr. Janet Grant, Dr. David Taylor, Dr. Kay Mohanna, Prof. Dr. Vikram Jha all from UK, Dr.Gohar Wajid from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ayhan Caliskan, Prof.Tariq Mufti, Prof. Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Brig.Dr.Mowadat Hussain Rana, Major Gen.Mohammad Aslam and Prof. Malik H.Mubbashar from Pakistan.

Pre Conference workshops will be held on November 20th. The topics for the workshops to be held in the morning are Involving real patients in health profession’s teaching and research, establishing simulation center in a medical college: Experience from Rawalpindi Medical College, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: Assessment of Attitudes and Ethics in Health Professionals. The workshop to be held in the afternoon includes Using Simulated patients for learning and assessment of clinical skills, Workplace based assessment. The participants can only attend one workshop in the morning and one in the evening. Registration Fee for the conference for participants from Pakistan is Rs. 1,000/- for faculty and postgraduates and Rs. 500/- for undergraduate medical students. Registration Fee for the Workshop is also Rs. 1000/- for the Faculty and Rs. 500/- for medical students. Registration for Gala Dinner is Rs. 1500/- for the faculty and staff and Rs. 1,000/- for the accompanying persons.

Health Professionals, Educationists, Healthcare delivery providers, policy makers, medical students, Medial and Allied Health Sciences faculty will benefit from the conference deliberations.
