200-Bed Paediatric Cardiac Surgery
Unit being set up at NICVD

Project to be completed in two years time
at a cost of Rs. 1800 Million

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister has announced the establishment of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery unit at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. The 200-bed Unit will be completed in a two years time and it will cost Rs. 1800 Million. This was stated by him while speaking at the Cardio Live organized by NICVD at a local hotel recently. Setting up this unit of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, he hoped will not only improve the care of paediatric patient but it will also serve patients from all over the country.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah further stated that once the NICVD is given under complete administrative control of Sindh Government, we will take extra care to provide additional funding to equip it with latest state of the art equipment and instruments which will be beyond the expectations of the healthcare professionals. He commended the services being rendered by NICVD for diagnosis, treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the country benefitting not only the people of Sindh province but the whole country. Sindh Government, he said, was establishing more hospital, rural health centers all over the province and we plan to equip them with latest equipment.

Earlier Prof. Khan Shah Zaman Khan Executive Director of NICVD thanked the Chief Minister for taking keen interest in the affairs of National Institute of Cardiovascular diseases and establishment of paediatric cardiac surgery unit. The meeting was also addressed by Sindh Health secretary Iqbal Hussain Durrani and President CPSP Prof. Zafarullah Chaudhry. (PR)
