LAHORE: Pakistan Chest Society and PharmEvo Research Forum have made waves in the medical community by successfully organizing the first-ever Respiratory Research Award at the 4th National Chest Con on April 28-30, 2023, in Lahore. The event received an overwhelming response, with a total of 55 abstracts submitted in the Emerging Physician category (Consultant Pulmonologist less than 45 years) and 35 in the Budding Physician category (Trainees).

The expert panel of judges, consisting of Prof. Dr. Saulat Ullah Khan from Rasheed Hospital, Brig. (R) Prof. Dr. Jamal Ahmad HoD of Pulmonology Department, Fauji Foundation Hospital, Dr. Nousheen Akhter – Classified Pulmonologist PNS Shifa, and Dr. Masood Jawaid, Medical Director PharmEvo and Associate Editor, Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences, evaluated the poster presentations.

In the category of budding physicians, Dr. Taymmia Ejaz from Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi won the first prize, followed by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad from Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore, who won the second prize, and Dr. Shumaila Javaid from Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, who won the third prize. In the category of emerging physicians, Dr. Muhammad Hussain from Services Hospital in Lahore won the first prize, followed by Dr. Saif ur Rahman from DHQ, Faisalabad, who won the second prize, and Dr. Nousheen Iqbal from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan, who won the third prize. In both categories, the winner of the first prize received 1.5 lacs PKR, the second prize received 1 lac PKR, and the third prize received 50,000 PKR.
