of medical writing - Prof. Pervez Anjum

HYDERABAD: We always welcome academic initiatives by different organizations and if there is possibility of public private partnership we are more than welcome to facilitate the process. This was stated by Pro VC LUMHS Professor Muneer Ahmed Junejo, who was chief guest during the workshop organized by Pakistan Orthopaedic Associaton (POA) at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) on March 2, 2015. He was speaking at the Nice Initiative towards Clinicians Skills Enrichment organized by PharmEvo for professional development of healthcare community.

Thirty five faculty members and residents attended the workshop. Topic selection, literature searching techniques, writing skills of scientific paper, basic biostatistics, plagiarism were discussed in detail in the workshop. Dr. Masood Jawaid, Director Medical Affairs, PharmEvo and Associate Editor Pak J Med Sci; Dr. Asadullah Makhdoom Managing Secretory Journal of Pakistan Orthopaedic Association (JPOA) and Assistant Editor Journal of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (JLUMHS) and Dr. S. M. Tahir were the facilitators of the workshop.

Pakistan Orthopaedic Association has been publishing its journal named as Journal of Pakistan Orthopaedic Association (JPOA) since 1966 and was registered in 1967. It is recognized by PMDC. In order to improve the standard and quality of the journal, executive board of POA and the editorial committee of JPOA in their meetings have decided to run series of workshops on “Manuscript Writing” in different cities of Pakistan so that the authors especially the junior colleagues, can have better writing knowledge and enhance their skills of scientific writing.

Pakistan Orthopaedic Association intends to organize these workshops in all institutes and different cities of Pakistan. Next workshop has been planned in Karachi during the month of May with two CME credit hours. (PR)
