KARACHI: Management of various diseases are not one man show, it require team efforts and healthcare professionals including nurses and paramedics needs to be constantly reminded to uphold professional ethics. Safety of the patients should be our first priority and each one of us should try to do our best to come up to the patients expectations. Otsuka has a very long association with the medical profession and its efforts to create awareness against Hepatitis spread are indeed commendable. This was stated Dr. M. Jamil Akhtar Assistant Professor of Anaesthesiology Dow University of Health Sciences & Civil Hospital Karachi. He was performing the Otsuka Lucky draw in connection with Otsuka awareness campaign against Hepatitis spread, at a meeting held at Otsuka Head office on April 28, 2015.

Continuing Dr. Jamil Ahmed said that healthcare professional specially obstetricians & Gynecologists should be more careful because antenatal care is lacking in our healthcare setups. A women who take care of a baby for nine months in all circumstances, sometime end up in just nine minutes and we should  think about it.   Image of doctors is at stake and even patients are talking about unethical practices of medical profession. Hence, we should realize our responsibility. Prescription of doctors   must have quality products so that   poor people get relief at the earliest. Nurses and paramedics in particular need to be reminded again and again about the safe practices regarding the use of Intravenous Infusions so that it becomes a routine practice. Dr. Jamil further said that it is the duty of the senior healthcare professionals to share their knowledge and experience with others so that the younger generation of doctors, nurses and paramedics are better prepared to effectively manage the patients which will go a long way in improving patient care. He also appreciated the contributions of Otsuka in helping the healthcare professionals in various ways and their efforts should be acknowledged.  

Earlier Mr. Arshad Khan, Deputy Marketing Manager of Otsuka Pakistan highlighted the activities of Otsuka Pakistan to create awareness about Hepatitis spread using electronic and print media among the public and healthcare professionals. Otsuka IV preparations, Mr. Arshad stated does not require pricking. Otsuka also manufacture fluids which do not require mixing but these products will reach to patients only if they are prescribed by generic name, he added. Every month sixteen lucky winners are selected through lucky draw from hundreds of entries received.  Dr. Madhu Balafrom Muhammad Medical College Mirpur Khas was the lucky winner for the month of April 2015.

Mr. Hanif Sattar Chief Executive Officer of Otsuka Pakistan, Mr. Habib Navaid Senior Director Marketing, Mr. Khalid Munir Business Unit Head, Dr. Talha Senior Medical Advisor, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf RSM Mr. Moinuddin and some other senior executives from Otsuka were also present on this occasion.
