Shahbaz Sharif assures funding for educational
workshops for trainers and trainees of CPSP

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has assured to provide funding for educational workshops for Trainers and Trainees of the CPSP. He was speaking at the 47th Convocation of CPSP held here recently. He further stated that their government has kept health on top priority. He commended the role of CPSP saying that it was producing high quality specialists.

He further stated that no political interference was tolerated in health and education sectors earlier nor will be in future. Remuneration being paid to those in health department is the highest, and we wish that their salaries should be based on performance. He also disclosed that Punjab Government was introducing health insurance cards for providing best treatment facilities to people. We have to improve healthcare and make the scheme successful jointly. The monthly salaries of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff were increased reasonably. The salaries of employees of health department in Punjab are comparatively better than other provinces. CPSP, he said will be consulted in matters pertaining to health and medical education.
Earlier Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President of CPSP said CPSP is a torch bearer for Pakistani doctors. CPSP has proved its worth not only in Pakistan but also abroad. CPSP is committed to provide high quality medical education. CPSP network, he said, was expanding continuously, so is the graduating specialists and the specialties. College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan today stands prominently among the institutions of postgraduate medical education by offering 69 fellowship and 20 membership programs for the medical and dental doctors not only across the country but has to its credit an overseas training network that includes Nepal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, U.K. and Ireland. The training network within the country includes 16,400 trainees in 161 accredited institutions under 2390 supervisors, while there are 57 institutions with 118 trainees under 85 supervisors imparting trainees for the CPSP programs abroad.
Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, DGIR, said CPSP has signed MoUs with Ireland, England, Saudi Arabia, Canada and other developed countries for cooperation and collaboration in the field of postgraduate medial education and training. The convocation was very well attended. At this convocation four hundred twenty three doctors were awarded FCPS, 61 awarded MCPS, and Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Dr. Zafar Ahmad, Dr. Nudrat Sohail, and Dr. Sabir Sohail were awarded HPE (MCPS), whereas Dr. Muhammad Hassan Javed, Dr. Sher-e-Murtaza, Dr. Andleeb Kanwal, and Dr. Bushra Jamil were awarded Gold Medals.
