KARACHI: Dr. Saima Aleem BDS, MPH from Sarhad Institute of Health Sciences Peshawar from the province of Khyber PK has been selected as the recipient of Dr. Maqbool H. Jafary Memorial Scholarship Prize of Rs. 25,000/- for the Year 2021. She is the seventh recipient of this scholarship which has been started by Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences in recognition of its founder Chief Editor and former President of Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) Dr. Maqbool H. Jafary FRCP after his death in 2015.

Dr. Saima Aleem, it may be mentioned here was enrolled in the Certificate Course in Medical Editing at the UHS in Batch-Two and earned the Third Position in the final assessment and Viva Exam. She did her BDS from de’ Montmorency college of dentistry, University of Health Sciences in 2004.She is a certified in Endodontics. She did her Master’s in Public Health from Sarhad University in 2017 and at present she is coordinator of MPH programme at Shahad Institute of Health Sciences, Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology. She is keen researcher and is currently involved in numerous research projects. She is also enrolled as PhD Scholar at University of Lahore. She has served as dental surgeon at numerous institutions during her professional career.

This year Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences is planning to award yet another Scholarship to a trainee editor and a final decision will be taken soon.
