USA: Clarivate Analytics known for Impact Factor has issued the latest Journal Citation Report for the Year 2019 (Web of Sciences) which shows that Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences has retained the No.1 position of having the Highest Impact Factor among the Pakistani Biomedical Journals. It may be mentioned here that at present only twelve journals from Pakistan which includes three medical journals have earned Impact Factor. A number of other Pakistani biomedical journals have already applied for the Impact Factor and they have been accepted in the initial phase i.e. Early Science Citation Index Expanded (eSCIE). They are under observation and are waiting for Impact Factor.

Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences has an Impact Factor of 0.834 with a total citations of two thousand ninety five (2,095). Journal of Pakistan Medical Association is at No. 2 with Impact Factor of 0.642 with total citations of three thousand three hundred forty four (3,344) while Journal of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan is at No.3 with Impact Factor of 0.407 with a total citation of one thousand nine hundred forty eight (1,948). Impact Factor it may be mentioned here is just one of the criteria and not the only criteria to judge the standard of a biomedical journal. It has its own drawbacks and limitations. The number of citation is also very important. Hence while mentioning about Impact Factor, all these points must be kept in mind.
