KMU, AJKMC & AMU sign MOU for
collaboration in Education & Research

MUZZAFARABAD: Azad Jammu Kashmir Medical College, Adal Medical University Somalia and Khyber Medical University have signed an MOU for mutual cooperation in Postgraduate Program, Research and Allied Health Sciences, for education, research. All three prime institutions agreed to promote bilateral educational and research activities in the fields of research, education for undergraduate and postgraduate in Medical, Dental, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and exchange of students in different fields. MOU signing ceremony was held at the Vice Chancellor’s office and in the office of Principal AJKMC, at Peshawar and AJKMC Muzaffarabad on January 4th and 5th 2000 respectively.

It was attended by Vice Chancellor KMU Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Adal Medical University Representative Dr. Anmol Asghar and Professor Dr. Mulazam Hussain Principal of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College (AJK-MC) Muzaffarabad MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur Registrar KMU, Prof. Dr. Abid Karim, Prof Zahid Azeem, MS Anam Mir AJKMC Muzaffarabad, Prof Dr. Haider Darin Dean Allied Health Sciences KMU, Prof Dr. Saima Afaq Director IPH&SS, Prof. Dr. Brekhna Jamil Director IHPE&R, Dr. Muhammad Jaseem Director IPMS was also present at the occasion at Peshawar.

It is worth mentioning that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is aimed at promoting bilateral relations between the three medical education institutions at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, nursing, allied sciences, public health, and health profession education to benefit from each other’s experiences in these fields.

Those who spoke on this occasion included Dr. Anmol Asghar, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Prof Mulazim Hussain Bukhari. Prof Zia ul Haq stated that the doors of KMU are open for national as well as international organizations. Prof Mulazim Hussain Bukhari hoped that these bilateral contacts will provide opportunity not only to learn from each other’s experiences but it will also open up new avenues for strengthening existing ties between two Islamic countries and bringing them closer together in the near future.

He further stated that it was an honor for three institution that we will start joint Medical Educational and Research programs with AJKMC Muzaffarabad and Adal University Somalia. Prof Zia ul Haq, VC KMU, said that the University has started a comprehensive series of education and research programmes in various fields related to health in a short span of time which is being appreciated not only nationally but also internationally.
