Provincial medical and dental colleges asked to admit
students with 50% marks in MDCAT exam-Dr.Azra Pechuhu

KARACHI: Medical and dental colleges in Sindh province have been asked to start and complete admission process as the provincial cabinet has approved the eligibility criteria. Students with 50% marks in MDCAT examination conducted by Pakistan Medical Commission can be given admission. Preference will be given to the students who had Sindh domicile followed by students from Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Baluchistan. This was stated by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuhu while talking to heads of private medical colleges and universities.

She assured that the provincial government will also establish Sindh Medical and Dental Council and get it approved by the World Health Organization as well as other bodies and legally resist any move by the PMC. The medical graduates will be registered by SMDC she stated. Sindh Government has issued the necessary notification hence the admission process should be completed in time.

It may be mentioned here that there are twenty nine medical and dental colleges in Sindh province, seventeen medical and twelve dental institutions. Earlier the PMC had warned that students will not be registered but Sindh Government has decided to go ahead with its plans.
