LAHORE: The Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf Government remains under criticism in the media most of the time for its incompetence and inefficiency. However, for the second time in recent past it has provided an opportunity to appreciate and commend its actions because of positive decision which it has taken. This relates to the appointment of Prof. Asad Aslam a well-known ophthalmologist as Chairman of Punjab Human Organs Transplantation Authority. A notification to this effect was issued on December 20, 2021.

Prof. Asad Aslam, it may be mentioned here has earlier served as Chief Executive of Mayo Hospital besides serving as Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University for many years. He retired as Prof. of Ophthalmology at KEMU sometime ago. His work during Covid19 infection won him lot of praise. He brings with him rich administrative experience.

Apart from holding the above coveted posts, he has also served as Principal of College of Ophthalmology and Allied Health Sciences at Mayo Hospital, Dean Surgery and Allied KEMU, Dean Public Health, National Coordinator WHO Pakistan Collaboration programme for prevention of blindness, Member WHO Monitoring Committee for Vision 2020 representing EM Region, Chairman National Trachoma Task Force, National Task Force for Paediatric Ophthalmology and has remained associated with numerous other professional bodies and societies, committees.
