789 Medical and 6 Dental graduates declared successful

RAWALPINDI: Two thousand seven hundred ninety three (2,793) candidates which included 2,763 medical and 30 dental graduates, appeared in the NEB exam of PM&DC conducted by National University of Medical Sciences recently. Nine hundred eighty nine (989) were examined at Army Medical College while 1,804 were accommodated at Pak China Friendship Centre. Out of this 789 medical (28.56 %) and 06 dental graduates (20 %) were declared successful. A feedback proforma was served to each candidate and majority conveyed their satisfaction over the arrangements.

The exam was conducted in two sessions i.e. paper 1 and 2 of 3-hour duration each with 150 MCQs in each segment. An intervening break of 90 minutes was observed for prayer and lunch to the candidates and staff.

More than 300 administrative personnel participated in the successful maintenance of Examination. Moreover, examination board appointed 24 superintendents /deputy superintendents along with 160 invigilators for the proper conduct of examination in accordance with the exam regulations. Academic staff (over 200 for MBBS and 100 for BDS) was involved in paper setting from the core medical subjects i.e. Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine. For maintaining discipline and preventing examinees from cheating during the exams, four colored question booklets (Yellow, Green, Blue and Pink) were printed under the supervision of two Controller of Examinations, NUMS. However, Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets were provided to examinees to imply their answers by way of marking the circles/containers given at the OMR Sheet.

The Vice-Chancellor, Lt Gen Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed HI(M) and Pro Vice Chancellor, Maj Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam visited the examination centers to observe arrangements for PM&DC NEB Step-I Examination. Controller of Examinations Brig (Retd) Muhammad Saifullah Butt also accompanied the Vice Chancellor. The VC inspected the arrangements and took feedback from the candidates regarding facilities provided at the centers

It may be mentioned here that after the successful conduct of the first cycle 2018 (step I, II & III) of PM&DC National Examination Board (NEB) examination for foreign medical and dental graduates by NUMS in April through July 2018, the second cycle 2018 of the examination commenced in November 2018. The step I of the examination was held on 25th November 2018 (Sunday), simultaneously at Army Medical College Rawalpindi and Pak China Friendship Centre Islamabad. A day prior to that i.e. 24th November 2018 (Saturday) was utilized to make necessary administrative arrangements at the venues. Immaculate administrative arrangements were made by NUMS at Pak China Friendship Centre, in collaboration with PM&DC, to secure the venue. (PR)
