KARACHI: Advance Educational Institute and Research Centre (AEIRC) in collaboration with Better Health Company organized a symposium on women health with the theme of Behter Sehat, Behtar Kal, Behtar Pakistan at a local Hotel here on August 13th, 2016. Women health professionals from leading public and private sectors attended the event.

Dr. Sadaf Ahmed (CEO, AEIRC) welcomed the participants with a brief introduction of conference. A nation’s development, she stated is not possible without taking care of its mothers and we must take it as global and public health challenge. The soul of this gathering was the intention of wellbeing towards the maternal and child health. A stage play by Tehrik e Niswan entitled Hum Aurtain, was also part of this event  which highlighted  how women’s rights should be fulfilled especially the right to health. It was pointed out that after so many years women still face many health problems and we must re-commit to addressing them.

To highlight the role of education a panel discussion was also arranged and panelists were Dr. Habiba Hassan, Dr. Shaheen Zafar, Dr. Khemchand, Dr. Asma Makhani and Dr. Farzana Hassan.  It was emphasized that research and awareness is the first steps towards the understanding and solving any issue and Global burden of maternal and child health issues. The panel highlighted the need to build scientific and social network by sharingresearch based facts to shed light and inspire actions. Panelists endorsed the informative launch of Health Advocacy Council for Women & Child health (HACWC)with aim to build a Consortium for Women and Children Health Issues with focus on Research and taking it further to develop Women and Children Mortality Surveillance Framework. All participants were offered its membership  supported by better health company. (PR)
