Pakistani delegation actively participated
in the 12th SAARC ENT Conference
held in Nepal

Prof. Iqbal Khyani Elected Vice president

KATMANDU (NEPAL): The 12th SAARC ENT Conference was held at Kathmandu, Nepal from 27th to 28th May 2022.The Pakistani delegation which participated in the conference included Prof. Iqbal Khyani from DUHS Karachi, Dr. Mazhar Iqbal from AKUH Karachi, and Dr. Ahmed Nawaz from Liaquat National Hospital Karachi besides others.

Prof. Iqbal Khyani delivered a Keynote lecture on Early Molecular Detection of Oral PML and OSCC Utilizing Genomics and Proteomics. He along with Dr. Ahmed Nawaz also participated in the panel discussion on Oral cavity and Oropharyngeal Cancers. Dr. Mughira Iqbal had an invited lecture on prospective of pediatric airway, our learning curve!

Dr. Ahmed Nawaz’s presentation was on Pectorals Major Flap reconstruction; still a viable option for big mucosal oral cavity and skin Head and Neck defects with acceptable cosmetic results. His other presentation was on Intraoperative assessment of resection margin in oral SCC by frozen section, patient's driven or specimen driven approach.

On second day of the conference, Prof. Iqbal Khyani, Chaired Oration memorable lecture in memory of late Prof Aladdin (founder of SAARC, ENT Society). The speaker was Prof. Qamar ul Hassan Tarafdar, past president SAARC, ENT Society from Bangladesh. Dr. Mughira Iqbal participated in the panel discussion on Larynx and Hypo pharynx. Dr. Ahmed Nawaz made a presentation on Optic Nerve Decompression; Predictors for Improvement.

Prof. Iqbal Khyani along with Prof. Bimal Kumar Sinha evaluated the electronic poster. Prof. Iqbal Khyani was Elected Vice president of SAARC ENT Society. Prof. Sameer Qureshi was elected Member of the Executive council. Prof. Mohibullah Khan was elected as Senior Advisor. 


Young researchers whose study protocols were approved after peer review and were
presented research grants are photographed alongwith the Chief Guest Prof. Javed Akram,
Guest of Honour Prof. Shahzad Ali Khan and Advisors of PharmEvo Research Forum
at the meeting held on May 17th at Lahore.


Health Services Academy Islamabad organized a three days’ workshop on Scientific Writing
for its postgraduates from May 9th to May 11th 2022. Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid Chief Editor
Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences was the facilitator. Apart from power point
presentations, the programme included interactive discussion and lot of Hands on
Exercises. At the end of the workshop Group leaders made the presentations and they
were presented Prize of books on Scientific Writing and Medical History by the facilitator.
