CFMP celebrates Words Diabetes Day
Family Physicians should enhance
their skills to improve patient

KARACHI: The College of Family Medicine Pakistan organized a meeting to celebrate the World Diabetes Day on Sunday 8th December 2019 at the Academic & Research Center CFMP. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Riaz Qureshi an eminent Family Physician focused on the need of better informed family physicians to improve the status of healthcare in the country.

Prof. M. Zaman Shaikh who was the chief guest presented an overview on the global and Pakistan statistics on diabetes. He also shared the views from the IDF conference at Busan Korea. The Secretary General CFMP Dr. Shehla Naseem who is also the coordinator for IDF center of diabetes education in her speech stressed upon the need of enhancing the skills of family physicians and general practitioners for better management of their patients. She said the GPs need to enhance their knowledge but they do not have any support system. College of Family Medicine provides them this facility so that they can build their competencies wherever they are practicing. CFMP has been offering online courses at very affordable cost to the family physicians.

Dr. Shehla praised her team for their selfless participation in the educational activities of the College. She also thanked the PCDA for their keen participation and Doctors Professional Development Forum for being there to support the event, and above all the support of PMA to make the event so successful. The presentations was followed by lively discussion.

Earlier Dr. Usman Ghani the chairman of CFMP welcomed the distinguished guests of honour and invited guest speakers. Dr. Rashid Khan presented the vote of thanks.
