CCM meeting at UHS

LAHORE: The quarterly meeting of Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) was held at the University of Health Science (UHS), on April 13, 2015 which endorsed a phased project proposal for effective control of HIV/AIDS in the country. The proposal for control of HIV/AIDS has been jointly developed by National AIDS Control Programme, Government of Pakistan, United Nations Development Programme and an NGO, Nai Zindgi.

The meeting was chaired by Secretary, Ministry of National Health Service, Regulation and Coordination, Muhammad Ayub Sheikh. More than 45 members including representatives of provincial health department, multilateral and bilateral agencies such as WHO, USAID, UNAIDS, UNDP, etc., non-government organizations, academic institutions, private businesses and people living with diseases attended the meeting.

The CCM is a country level multi-stakeholder partnership which develops grant proposals for effective control of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria based on priority needs and submit them to the Global Fund, an international financing institution which provides funding to support such programmes run by local experts in more than 140 countries.(PR)
