10th Annual Surgical Week for
colorectal diseases at JPMC
KARACHI: The 10th annual Surgical Week for Colorectal Diseases is being organized by Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center Surgical Ward-II from October 5-8, 2015. The visiting faculty includes Prof. F. Frizelle from University of Otago, Christchurch New Zealand and Prof. R.J.Nicholls from St. Mark’s Hospital UK.
The meeting will be held at Najmuddin Auditorium of JPMC. Dr.Shamim Qureshi is the main organizer. Registration is mandatory for the participants to avail CME accreditation and certificate. Workshop on pain management
in Root Canal Treatment
KARACHI: The department of Continuing Medical & Dental Education (CMDE) at Baqai Medical University in collaboration with Baqai Dental College organized a workshop on the etiology and pain management in Root Canal Treatment. Welcoming the participants of the workshop, Baqai Dental College Principal Prof. Dr. Kashif Ikram shed light on a number of academic and research programs being offered to undergraduate and graduate students at BDC as per guidelines laid down by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). In his key-note address, BDC Vice Principal Prof. Dr. Talha M. Siddiqui stated that better dental health and hygiene is a key to ensuring better lifestyle. Dental problems should immediately be brought to the knowledge of a qualified dental practitioner because avoiding dental treatment in such cases might lead to more clinical complications. “Medical ethics should be practiced by all Dentists while treating their patients which itself has a great healing effect on patients”, Dr. Siddiqui added.
Highlighting the significance of Root Canal treatment, Dr. Talha said this dental procedure is highly effective in diagnosing various dental and gum diseases, and the presence of state of the art practices and equipment is greatly facilitating the patients. People should be sensitized about the value of having healthy gums and teeth by consulting the dentist once after every six months, he added.
