PAME & Health RAB workshops
at SMBBMU Larkana

LARKANA: Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) in collaboration with Health Research Advisory Board (Health RAB) is organizing workshops on Medical Writing, Medical Editing and Peer Review at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University/Chandka Medical College Larkana next week.

The workshop on Medical Writing will be held on Tuesday August 25th while the workshop on Medical Editing, Peer Review will be organized on Wednesday August 26th 2015. The facilitators include Shaukat Ali Jawaid Chief Editor of Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences who is also Secretary General of Eastern Mediterranean Associaton of Medical Editors (EMAME) and Dr.Jamshed Akhtar Editor Journal of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. He is also General Secretary of Pakistan Associaton of Medical Editors (PAME). The programme includes presentations followed by Hands on activity.

Prof. Ghulam Asghar Channa Vice Chancellor of SMBBMU is the local focal person on whose request these workshop are being organized for the benefit of faculty members as well as postgraduates. Workshops on Medical Writing are also being planned at Sialkot Medical College and Avicenna Medical College Hospital, Lahore next month.


Civil Hospital Karachi
gets a face lift

KARACHI: Civil Hospital Karachi affiliated with Dow University of Health Sciences as a teaching hospital which was until a few years ago considered as one of the dirtiest healthcare facility in Pakistan has got a facelift and there has been a remarkable improvement in cleanliness and hospital environment. Prof. Saeed Qureshi the Medial Superintendent has been making concerted efforts to improve patient care, cleanliness within the hospital campus as well as in its surroundings.

The flooring inside the hospital all over has made all the difference.  Un-necessary flow of vehicles in the hospital has been effectively checked, parking at unauthorized places is strictly checked and free provision of all the necessary investigations, speedy disposal of patients coming in the emergency despite shortage of staff is being ensured. Overall maintenance of the hospital buildings has also improved and recently the administration has spent huge funds in renovating and furnishing the offices of faculty members, white wash of the buildings and improving other maintenance services.  Most importantly ensuring judicious use of the available scarce resources to provide maximum comfort to the patients visiting Civil Hospital Karachi is commendable which is being appreciated by all. Prof. Saeed Qureshi’s own ward in the hospital is one of the best neat, clean and well equipped, well staffed units which has a busy teaching, training programme. Apart from the full time staff, Prof. Saeed Qureshi has acquired the services of some eminent experienced people who are working honorary and all the additional needs of the patients in the ward including interventional procedures are met through donations and funds generated from various sources including philanthropists.
