UHS-PAME Training course
for Medical Journal Editors

LAHORE: University of Health Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) has organized a two day intensive interactive training course -cum-workshop for Medical Journal Editors which has got very enthusiastic response.  Thirty participants affiliated with various medical, dental and nursing journals published by various medical and dental colleges affiliated with University of Health Sciences and other institutions have registered for the course being held at UHS campus on March 4-5th 2016. Each participant will be provided with a specially compiled, revised and edited Work Book which will be used during the training course. 

The course will be conducted by Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid Chief Editor Pakistan Journal of Medical Science and Secretary General of Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) who is also Executive Member of PAME.  Prof. Ijaz Hussain Editor Journal of Pakistan Association of Dermatologists, Prof. of Dermatology at King Edward Medical University is the Co-facilitator for this course.


  HEC ranking of medical
universities in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has released the list of ranking of medical business and other universities in Pakistan. In the medical category, Aga Khan University Karachi and University of Health Sciences Lahore continue to retain their First and second position respectively. Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi is at No.3, Khyber Medical University Peshawar is at NO.4 while Isra University Hyderabad is at No.5.

According to Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Chairman of HEC, they do this exercise of ranking various universities annually with an aim to promote research culture in Pakistani universities and to encourage them to compete internationally. The main criteria for ranking of these universities, he further stated, was quality assurance, teaching quality, research, finance and facilities, social integration and community development. In all one hundred twenty nine universities were reviewed by Higher Education Commission.
