10th National Neuropsycon Conference
at Lahore on April 26-27, 2014

LAHORE: Pakistan Psychiatric Society and Psychiatric Welfare Association and are organizing 10th Neuropsycon conference on 26th to 27th April 2014 at Lahore in collaboration with Department of Rahbar Medical & Dental College / Pakistan Rangers Central Hospital, Lahore and many other institutions in the city. Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Neurophysicians, Neurosurgeons and General Practitioners from all over Pakistan will be participating. The theme of the conference is “OPTIMIZING UNMET NEEDS OF PSYCHIATRIC CARE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES” .Another area of focus will be awareness programme for the media/public at large as usual.
Friday 25th April, 2014 will be devoted for preconference CME program for PG trainees/Psychologists & Practitioners and two special workshops on Communication Skills for Junior Doctors/Trainee Psychologists and Behavioral Modification Strategies in Children will be held in the Department of Psychiatry KEMU/Mayo Hospital, Lahore. The workshops will be complimentary for limited numbers of registered participants on first come first serve basis.
The Registration/Inaugural Session will start at 7:30 a.m. on 26th April 2014 followed by early session 8:00 to 09:30 a.m. The Inaugural session will start at 09:45 am to be followed by pre-lunch scientific proceedings as plenary session. March 26th 2014 PM (Post lunch) will again be devoted for scientific sessions with a special session on media/public awareness (ZEHNI BEEMARI YA ASEB/JIN BHOOT KA SAYA – ASAL HAQEEQAT KIA?)
Beside the main theme, the conference will cover many other interesting areas, like women mental health, old age psychiatry, child and adolescent mental health issues, liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, genetics in psychiatry and recent updates in the management of epilepsy, affective disorders and schizophrenias.

Seminar on Pulmonology at Baqai Hospital
on March 11-12, 2014

KARACHI: Department of Pulmonology at Baqai Medical University is organizing a two day seminar on Pulmonology on March 11-12th 2014 at Baqai Hospital Nazimabad No. 3, Karachi. The timings are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The topics to be discussed on March 11th are Pneumonia by Prof. Sohail Akhtar, Tobacco and lungs by Prof. Javaid A. Khan, Interstitial lung diseases by Dr. Mosavir Ansari, Routine Chest X-rays by Prof. Tameem Akhter, Diagnosis of TB by Dr. Altaf, Treatment of tuberculosis by Dr. Amanullah Ansari and Multi Drug Resistant TB by Dr. Shaheena Qayoom. On March 12th, Dr. Nisar Rao will speak on bronchogenic carcinoma, chest surgery in Pulmonology will be discussed by Dr. Niaz Somroo while Prof. Nadeem Rizvi will speak on Bronchial Asthma and Dr. Waseem Memon will discuss CAT scan in Pulmonology. Dr. S. Zafaryab Hussain will speak on pleural effusion and Dr. Saifllah Beg will discuss Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

JPMC Golden Jubilee Symposium

KARACHI: Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Karachi is holding its Golden Jubilee Symposium from 23rd to 29th March 2014. Registration of the delegates is free but Mandatory. Those who wish to make a presentation are requested to forward the Abstracts and follow the following instructions while writing abstracts.
Type of presentation: Paper / e-Poster. Please format the abstract as under:

• The presenting AUTHOR should be underlined.
• Abstract text should be subdivided into: Introduction, Methods, Results &Conclusions.
• It has been decided to display all the Posters on Laptop / Projector.
• Please note that all the abstracts will be published in CDs as well as on Social Media.
• For e-Posters please note that it should be made in Power Point and subdivided into:

Title, Introduction, Method, Results (including Graphs), Discussion, and References.

• Content of e-Posters must be accommodated in less than 10 slides.
• For free papers and Digital/e-poster presentations, preference will be given to original studies instead of case reports.
