 Punjab Govt. announces further increase
in pay, allowances for doctors

LAHORE: A notification issued by the Punjab Government says that Non Practicing Allowance of Rs. 4,000/- and Rs. 8,000/- will be given to Dental Surgeons in BPS 17 & 18, and 19 & 20 respectively with immediate effet.
A qualification allowance of Rs. 5,000/- has also been sanctioned for those who have done FCPS, MD or MS and M. Phil. General cadre doctors working as MOs with qualification of FCPS or equivalent, those serving in THQ Hospital will also be eligible for PHSRP Allowance as per government policy. First Year PGs stipend has also been increased to 90% of the pay of newly inducted regular MOs posted in Lahore. Second Year Trainee PGs shall get stipend equal to 90% of take home salary of Medical Officer in second year of service. Stipend of House Officers will be indexed by linking it with periodic revision of basic pay scales. They will be on the same formula as at present i.e. Rs. 24,000/- as a multiple of the initial basic pay of BPS 17. Health Professionals Allowance has also been increased by Rs. 1200/-


Prof. Z.K. Kazi passes away

KARACHI: Prof. Z. K. Kazi an eminent orthopaedic surgeon who also served as Director of JPMC passed away here on January 8th 2013. May God Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace. Ameen.
